Record Revenue Collection by the SAT Thanks to Oversight of Major Taxpayers

The Tax Administration Service (SAT) managed to collect 177.208 billion pesos in the first quarter of 2025, thanks to the Major Taxpayer Oversight Program. This represents an astounding increase of 74.7% in real terms compared to the same period in 2024.

During the months of January to March 2025, the tax authority successfully regularized 148 major companies either fully or partially. The areas where oversight was most intense included hydrocarbons, the financial sector, professional services, mining, and manufacturing industries. It’s worth noting that the SAT aims to collect 5.3 trillion pesos this year without the need to raise or create new taxes. This strategy is based on three essential pillars: taxpayer support, assistance for those who meet their obligations, and enforcement to eliminate tax evasion and smuggling. Among the most significant initiatives is the Tax Regularization Program, designed for small taxpayers with annual incomes of up to 35 million pesos.

This significant increase in revenue collection not only reflects the effectiveness of the strategies implemented by the SAT, but also highlights the crucial need for companies to fulfill their tax responsibilities.
